Tottenham, Alli, Real, and Bale: Would you pull the trigger on swap?

Audi Cup 2015

Real Madrid want Tottenham Hotspur's Dele Alli.

Perhaps the least surprising transfer news to emerge over the past 24 hours was reported by the Evening Standard, which claimed Tottenham Hotspur sensation Dele Alli is a potential target for Real Madrid

Alli has been nothing short of phenomenal since arriving from MK Dons in the summer, already netting five goals this season and scoring a spectacular goal for England against France.

It's little wonder his reputation is sky-rocketing, and clubs abroad are hovering, but Tottenham hope to show this season they have moved forwards, and are not a selling club.

Alli is theirs, and a player they rightly gambled on, leaving the rest of the Premier League kicking themselves that they did not.

There is only one scenario, or condition, that should make Tottenham entertain the idea of selling Alli to Real - the Spanish side let them have Gareth Bale back.

Such a swap would perhaps not appeal to Real, who paid a world record fee for the Welshman, and Alli is not 'yet' in that price range - but it is Tottenham who hold the cards.

Even then, is it worth it?

Tottenham have got over the initial hit of selling Bale, their problem was a failure to replace him properly, but they have steadied the ship and climbed back into the top four, where they intend to stay.

Alli is a special talent, who looks like he could be a regular for club and country for the next decade, and there really should be no reason to let him go.

Bale is a player held in the highest of regards at Tottenham, and one who is capable of netting upwards of 20 goals a season for the club, a major impact.

Yet he is also the same footballer who chose to walk out on them for a new challenge; in the same way as Alli left MK Dons, yes, but the young midfielder is at Tottenham to stay for the foreseeable future and they should back him, and stick with the project they have, even at the cost of bringing back Bale.
