Report: Wolves keen to make bid for Everton's Steven Pienaar

Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be keen to offer Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar a chance to play regular football again.

According to a report in the Express and Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to sign Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar in the January transfer window.

Wolves have one of the youngest squads in the Championship, and they are keen to bring in experience over the coming weeks.

Kenny Jackett’s side have already attempted to sign veteran defender Mike Williamson from Newcastle United, but that deal has hit a stumbling block, due to the fee that the Premier League club are demanding, according to the Daily Mirror.

Wolves will now turn their attention to Pienaar, as they look to add top level knowhow to their ranks.

Pienaar has reached the age of 33 now, and his chances of breaking into Everton’s team look unlikely.

The Toffees have built their side around the exciting young talents in their ranks, and Pienaar possesses little chance of displacing Ross Barkley or Gerard Deulofeu in the attacking midfield spots.

A move to Wolves could provide him with regular action, as Jackett seeks to improve the service that his side gets to their front men.

Wolves have not been particularly dangerous going forward this season, and they are on the look out for attacking additions this month.
