According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are willing to pay £400,000 to land Accrington duo Josh Windaass and Matt Crooks this month.
Crooks, 21, has impressed as a defensive midfielder for Accrington this season, chipping in with an impressive seven goals after being let go by Huddersfield in early 2015, whilst Windass, also 21, has been one of the stars of the League Two season, with the playmaker racking up 11 goals already.
The big problem for Accrington has been that both Crooks and Windass are out of contract at the end of the season, and Stanley are vulnerable to losing their two star players.
Unfortunately, it looks like both players are leaving John Coleman's side, with BBC Sport reporting that the duo have completed medicals with Rangers having signed pre-contract agreements with the club, enabling them to join the club in the summer.
However, with those deals now seemingly secured, this may not be the end of the case for Rangers. The Scottish Sun state that Rangers are now looking to offer Accrington a fee in the region of £400,000 to sign the players immediately, rather than waiting until the summer.
The situation is win-win for Rangers. They either get the players in the summer for a nominal fee, or offer Accrington a higher fee to sign them both now and have them in the squad for their pursuit of the Scottish Championship title.
Whether Accrington are willign to accept such a deal remains to be seen, but given that they will lose both players at the end of the season anyway, it may be in their best interests to take as much money for Crooks and Windass as they possibly can now.
