Report: Norwich face uphill task in convincing defender Andrea Ranocchia to join

Inter Milan

Norwich City have been heavily linked with Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia.

According to a report by Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, Norwich City are struggling to convince Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia to join the club.

The Canaries have seemingly made a top defender their number one priority this January, presuming that a new addition at the back will pay dividends in their bid for Premier League survival.

Inter Milan centre-back Andrea Ranocchia has been sounded out as their number one target, yet thus far they haven’t managed to secure a deal despite tabling a convincing bid.

According to Di Marzio’s report, Alex Neil’s side have offered €9 million plus bonuses [roughly £7.3 million] but their attempts to conclude a deal with the player have so far hit a brick wall.

“Ranocchia is not convinced by Norwich, and despite a bonus offer of £2.4 million (around €3.5 million), he is leaning towards saying no at the moment,” the report reads.

Norwich currently occupy 15th position in the Premier League table, six points clear of the drop zone but worryingly for boss Alex Neil also posting one of the worst defensive records.

Ranocchia, 27, is an experienced Italy international though this season he has just one Serie A start to his name, prompting plenty of speculation regarding his future with the Italian giants.

Norwich are seemingly intent on bringing him in, but as of yet a potential deal still seems quite far off.
