Norwich City’s Gary O’Neil has been superb of late.
According to a report in The Sun, Norwich City are considering offering Gary O’Neil a new contract following his recent good performances.
The former Queens Park Rangers star joined the Canaries in the summer of 2014, moving to Carrow Road on a two-year deal and playing a part in the club’s promotion campaign last season.
Despite not starting the season as a regular, the 32-year-old has become more of a prominent feature in the middle of midfield of late and was superb in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Southampton.
As such, Norwich are said to be mulling over offering O’Neil a new contract extension as the experienced midfielder enters the final six months of his existing deal.
“Gary O’Neil is close to earning himself a new deal at Norwich,” The Sun states.
O’Neil has started five of Norwich’s last six games in the Premier League, picking up wins over Manchester United and Southampton while earning draws with Arsenal and Everton.
The Canaries’ recent good form has eased their relegation fears somewhat as they currently occupy 15th position in the Premier League table, six points above the drop zone.
O’Neil offers valuable experience and plenty of energy in the middle of the park, while the 32-year-old is also capable of featuring in either fullback position.
