According to a report in the Daily Star, Jonjo Shelvey would favour a move to Crystal Palace over Newcastle United in January.
Both Newcastle and Palace believe that they can sign the central midfielder this month, as he has fallen out of favour at Swansea City.
The England international has been dropped to the bench in many of the Swans’ recent fixtures, and the Welsh outfit are said to be willing to listen to offers of around £10 million.
Newcastle and Palace are both set to match Swansea’s asking price, according to the report, but Shelvey favours a move to Selhurst Park.
The 23-year-old is keen to return to London, as he grew up in the capital and loved his time while playing for Charlton Athletic as a youngster.
Charlton’s first team manager at the time when Shelvey was a talented teenager was Alan Pardew, and he would reunite with the 54-year-old if he was to move to Palace.
