Celtic are not interested in signing Borja Viguera this January, the Scottish Sun reports.
The Bhoys were originally linked with the Spanish forward, 28, yesterday, with a report in AS claiming they have contacted Viguera's agent concerning a transfer.
Signing a striker this month is known to be one of Ronny Deila’s priorities, with Leigh Griffiths leading the line with no quality back-up available to Celtic. Nadir Ciftci has not had the expected impact following his summer arrival, and a new forward will link up with the Parkhead club in the coming weeks.
However, it has been disclosed that Viguera is not the player that Deila will be bringing to Scotland this month.
The Sun report claims that Celtic insiders have denied any approach for the forward, confirming that the AS article is not representative of the Bhoys’ stance on signing Viguera.
Considering Viguera has failed to score this season, and has managed only ever one goal in 26 La Liga games, he is hardly the top level forward that Celtic want to sign.
The confirmation that Viguera is not a transfer target should not come as a surprise, and Deila is sure to continue searching for the perfect option to bring to Parkhead over the next few weeks.
