Report: AC Milan interested in signing Watford star Etienne Capoue

The Italian giants are keen on the Watford revelation.

When Tottenham Hotspur sold Gareth Bale for a world record fee to Real Madrid back in 2013 they invested the money back into the club, bringing in plenty of talented individuals that summer.

One such player was French international Etienne Capoue. Tottenham brought the central midfielder in from Toulouse for a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £9 million.

But he struggled at White Hart Lane and he moved to newly promoted Watford in the summer. He has been in fantastic form at Vicarage Road as Watford impress at the right end of the Premier League table.

It seems that form has attracted unwanted interest from Italian giants AC Milan.

The Daily Star is reporting that the Rossoneri is keen on the player to strengthen their midfield options.

It is however perhaps a sign of how far Watford have come, and how far Milan have fallen, that the deal seems unlikely.

Capoue is earning rave reviews for his performances with The Hornets and that should help him make the sensible decision to remain inn Hertfordshire.

However, Milan is Milan, and it will be interesting to see what transpires if the Italian giants do knock heavily at the Watford door for their midfielder.
