HITC Sport understands that Magpies are not in for Lyon striker.
Newcastle United sources have told HITC Sport that they have not launched a new bid for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The 24-year-old has been on Newcastle's radar for a number of years and back in 2014, they were close to doing a deal but he instead opted to stay put in France.
Since then Newcastle have continued to keep tabs on his situation but they have long believed he was valued too high for them, now close to £30million.
Newcastle are very much in the market for a new striker this month, but they have not made a new offer for Lacazette.
The source confirmed: "There has been no bid, we don't know where this has come from."
Newcastle believe that Lacazette's value was close to £30million ruling him out of their sights, and North East sources believe reports in France have stemmed from Lyon trying to generate interest in England.
One French-based striker who was very on Newcastle's radar for this month was Marseille's Michy Batshuayi - but he signed a new deal on Wednesday, meaning he will not be leaving the Stade Velodrome this month.
HITC Sport understands that Newcastle want a left-back, midfielder and striker this month.
