Liverpool take a narrow 1-0 lead to Anfield following the first leg of their League Cup semi-final with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

It was a bittersweet night for Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium as they managed to find the goal that gave them an important lead in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Stoke City, but injuries continued to mount up during a busy period.

Jordon Ibe came off the bench to replace Philippe Coutinho and found the net to give Liverpool what could be a crucial advantage ahead of the second leg at Anfield in three weeks' time.

Dejan Lovren also hobbled off with what looks like a hamstring injury, but Stoke were unable to take advantage of Reds injury woes as they offered little threat, though manager Mark Hughes did try to go a little more direct in the second half with the introduction of Jonathan Walters and Peter Crouch, with the former squandering an opportunity in stoppage time.

Stoke will be disappointed not to have made home advantage count but they are still in the tie, while the big challenge for Jurgen Klopp is not to lose any more players in the four games prior to the second leg, and try and get a few more players off the treatment table and back in the side.
