Former Blackburn star David Dunn faces Oldham axe

HITC Sport understands the former Blackburn star is on the brink at Oldham.

Oldham Athletic boss David Dunn is on the brink of being sacked, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Oldham are currently in the League One relegation zone and last weekend's draw with bottom club Colchester made it a club record 11 home games without a win.

Dunn joined Oldham as a player last summer on a one-year deal, but he was placed in charge of the first-team in September on a tempoarary basis following the departure of Darren Kelly before being handed the job on a permanent basis a month later.

Oldham drew their first four games in charge under Dunn, but a poor run of form has seen them slip down the table

The former England international has been unable to turn around Oldham's fortunes with the Latics failing to win in their last seven games in all competitions.

Oldham find themselves five points adrift of safety and the club have decided to look for a new man to try and steer them to safety.

It means Oldham will be looking for their third new manager of the season after former Sunderland coach Kelly was dismissed after just four months following a 5-1 defeat by Peterborough
