HITC Sport understands that the former Celtic defender is set for return to Scotland with Dundee
Former Celtic and Leeds defender Darren O'Dea is poised to join Dundee on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Central defender O'Dea is a free agent after a spell in the Indian Super League with Mumbai City ended in December.
The 28-year-old has been weighing up his options as he looked to fix himself up with a new club and the former Toronto FC man held talks with MLS clubs about a potential return to North America this winter.
However, Dundee have now moved quickly to offer the Republic of Ireland international a deal at Dens Park.
Dundee boss Paul Hartley is keen to bolster his defensive options for the second half of the season and he is a big admirer of O'Dea having played with him during their time together at Celtic.
O'Dea will bring a wealth of experience with him to the Dundee squad having spent six years at Celtic and also enjoyed loan spells at Reading, Ipswich and Leeds before leaving Parkhead for Toronto FC in 2012.
O'Dea enjoyed a one-year stay at Toronto before joining Ukrainian side FC Metalurh Donetsk where he spent one season before a short spell at Blackpool and then his recent move to Mumbai City.
