Could Leeds United fans see Tommaso Bianchi for the first time in nearly a year this weekend?

Saturday could be the perfect time for this Leeds United midfielder to return.

Leeds United’s FA Cup third round match against Rotherham United this weekend allows Whites manager Steve Evans the chance to give some of his fringe players a chance. But it could also be the perfect opportunity to give a previously injured player his first taste of competitive senior football for nearly a year.

Tommaso Bianchi’s injury woes began on 10 February 2015 when he came off just 30 minutes into the Championship clash with Reading.

Leeds won that encounter 2-0, but Bianchi suffered a knee ligament injury and despite recovering in time for pre-season, he was required to go under the knife again before the new campaign kicked off.

More recently he has been playing for Leeds’ under-21s and Saturday’s FA Cup match would be a great chance for the 27-year-old to show Evans he is ready to make an impact in 2016.

Having been out for so long, Leeds fans should not expect too much too soon, but there is no doubt a fit and motivated Bianchi could be quite the bonus for an already resurgent squad.
