The Welshman has been linked with a move this week.
It has been claimed by the Daily Mail that Chris Hughton wants the Welsh international, who has a £1 million release clause in his current deal at St Andrews to strengthen their promotion hopes ahead of the second half of the season.
However Birmingham have their own play-off ambitions and manager Gary Rowett has made it clear today that there is no substance in the rumour.
He is quoted by the Birmingham City official Twitter account as stating:
There has been no approach from any club for David Cotterill, discloses Gary Rowett. 'There's a lot of unfounded speculation about '. #BCFC— Birmingham City FC (@BCFC) January 6, 2016
This will be welcome news for the Birmingham City fans - who have already seen one key man leave the club on a release clause deal this month.
Demarai Gray, the club's hottest prospect, recently finalised a move to Premier League high-flyers Leicester City at a cut-price fee.
Cotterill has played 13 times for the club this season with his last appearance coming in November, but with Gray's departure and the Welshman's return from a knee injury he is likely to play big role in the second part of the season.
