Speaking to the Daily Record, Aleksandar Pantic has reacted to news that Celtic are hoping to sign him.
When asked about the interest in him, Pantic said: “I am player of Villarreal and have not heard any news from Celtic. My agents have not advanced any more details to me and, right now, I am very calm playing in Eibar.”
The report claims that Pantic is a £1.5 million transfer target for Ronny Deila, who personally scouted the centre-back earlier this season.
He is currently on loan with Eibar from Villarreal, and it is stated that his loan club have the option to buy him permanently ahead of any other sides. This means that the Bhoys have to wait until seven days before the close of the January window to open talks, as that is when Eibar’s transfer option expires.
His contact with Villarreal expires at the end of this season, and they are ready to cash in on Pantic this month, and with Celtic now entering the race it seems likely a transfer will go through.
Regardless, Pantic has admitted that he is not aware of any interest from the Bhoys, and he sounds content to remain with Eibar, whether that is on loan until the end of the campaign, or by agreeing a permanent switch this month.
