HITC Sport understands Wigan have agreed deal to sign former Liverpool trialist Dan Lavercombe.
Wigan Athletic are set to confirm the signing of highly-rated Torquay United goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
The 19-year-old has attracted the interest of a number of clubs higher up the football pyramid after impressing for Torquay since breaking into the side at the back end of last season.
Lavercombe kept three clean sheets in five games last season and his emergence saw him win a trial at Premier League giants Liverpool.
The talented custodian has made 11 appearances this term, keeping two clean sheets and Torquay have been resigned to losing Lavercombe for a while.
Bolton took Lavercombe on trial in November and the Championship club were keen to sign the player, but the move failed to materialise.
Wigan have now acted quickly to agree a deal for Lavercombe with the youngster set to be loaned back to Torquay for the remainder of the season.
