Stan Collymore has named four players on Boylesports.com that Aston Villa should keep in the January transfer window.
The former Villa striker has suggested that other than Jack Grealish, Jordan Ayew, Carles Gil and Jordan Amavi, the struggling Premier League outfit should be open to selling everyone in the squad this month.
“I’d keep Grealish as he does have genuine promise, Ayew has been ok, Gil maybe if he bulks up could cope with more than cameo roles and Amavi as a squad player when fit,” Collymore has written on Boylesports.com.
“The rest, put up for sale. An overhaul of huge proportions to give Villa a chance in the Championship, never mind the Premier League.”
Grealish has been on the books of Villa his entire professional career so far and is rated as a very talented young player.
The 20-year-old, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has scored one goal and created 10 chances in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season.
Ayew joined Villa from French club Lorient in the summer of 2015 and has not done too badly.
The 24-year-old Ghana international striker has scored five goals and created six chances in 15 league games.
Gil switched to Villa from Spanish club Valencia in January 2015 and plays as an attacking midfielder.
The 23-year-old Spaniard has scored two goals and created 14 chances in 13 league matches.
Amavi is a 2015 summer signing for the Villans, having joined the Premier League side from French club Nice.
The 21-year-old left-back created seven chances in 10 Premier League games before injury struck in November.
Aston Villa's struggles
Villa are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just eight points from 20 matches.
Remi Garde’s side are as many as 11 points behind 17th-placed Swansea City and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
