Sam Byram has thanked Leeds United fans.
Leeds United star Sam Byram has thanked supporters for helping to vote him as Championship PFA Fans Player of the Month.
SkySports reported that the 22-year-old had amassed an astounding 82.4 per cent of the vote to win the award, ahead of Blackburn's Shane Duffy and Wolves' Jordan Graham.
Byram had netted three goals in December and provided one assist, with two coming in an impressive win away to Wolves.
The versatile prospect sent a message on Twitter to supporters to thank them for their backing.
over the moon to have won player of the month! Thankyou to everyone that voted for me, really appreciate it— Sam byram (@sambyram93) January 5, 2016
The award comes in a crucial month for Byram, with The Express reporting several Premier League sides are interested in his signature. His contract expires in June and Leeds United have to decide whether to cash in during the transfer window or not.
At the very least his award should see his value increase, and lift the amount the club could be entitled to as compensation in the summer via a tribunal should he walk away on a 'free'.
On the other hand the sheer scale of the voting in his favour has to show him the power of the Leeds fan base, and may be cause him to re-consider leaving one of the best supported clubs in the country, in the hope the management can finally get it right.
