Speaking to the Evening Times, Ronny Deila has confirmed that Tyler Blackett is still with Celtic, despite reports claiming that Manchester United want to recall him this month to cover for their injury crisis.
Deila said: “Tyler is still here. He has not been recalled by Manchester United. We haven’t heard anything about him going back to Manchester United.”
Blackett has played just seven games for the Bhoys this season, never impressing when turning out under Deila’s management, and United are reportedly considering bringing him back to Old Trafford.
Able to play at left-back and central defence, Blackett will provide cover in the injury crisis that United are currently suffering from, and the Daily Mail claimed that the Red Devils were preparing to recall him.
However, Deila has made it clear that Blackett is still registered with the Parkhead outfit, and has not been contacted by United concerning the cancellation of his loan deal.
It is evident that Blackett is not a part of Deila’s first-team plans for 2016 given the youngster’s struggles when taking to the field of play, and United would be wise to recall the defender to ensure his development is not stunted due to a lack of first-team football.
