Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers interested in Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly ready to offer Gabriel Agbonlahor an escape route from Aston Villa.

According to a report in the Express and Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Gabriel Agbonlahor from Aston Villa.

Agbonlahor’s future at Villa Park is in severe doubt, as the striker has failed to break into the team under Remi Garde.

The 28-year-old has been handed just two appearances since Garde took charge of the Claret and Blues, with the Frenchman clearly favouring other options.

Garde recently publicly criticised Agbonlahor in the Daily Mail, suggesting that he wasn’t putting in enough effort in training.

"He was available for selection but that’s all," Garde said last month. "Yes (he needs to do more)."

Wolves are prepared to offer the rapid front man an escape route from Villa Park, as they look to increase their attacking threat.

Kenny Jackett’s side have not been as dangerous this season as they were during the 2014/15 campaign, and they are eager to improve the quality of their squad in January.

Agbonlahor has made 10 appearances for Villa this season, but he has not scored a goal in any competition.
