Mario Suarez of Fiorentina is a target for Watford, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The Spanish midfielder, capped three times by his country, is out of favour with La Viola, and looks to be leaving the club this month. This is despite only signing for the Serie A side in the summer, agreeing a switch from Atletico Madrid.
The 28-year-old has started only four of 17 Serie A games this season, playing just 388 minutes of action, and his situation with La Viola has caused other managers to take notice.
One of those managers is Quique Sanchez Flores of Watford, who worked with Suarez when the pair were at Atletico Madrid together.
Flores, who has worked wonders with the Hornets this season, is reportedly keen on completing a deal to bring Suarez to Vicarage Road this month.
The report claims that Fiorentina are willing to sanction his departure as long as an appropriate offer is made. Watford can splash the cash this month, knowing that their Premier League survival is all-but secured, and the financial boost from top flight football is able to be spent.
There is no indication that an offer has yet been made, but the Hornets are expected to approach Fiorentina in the coming days.
