The 26-year-old forward is Reading’s top scorer this season, with 13 goals in 28 games across all competitions, and the Owls are hoping to bring him to Hillsborough to improve their chances of winning promotion this season.
Blackman has scored 22 goals in 113 games for Reading, having signed for the club in 2013 from Wednesday’s local rivals Sheffield United. He scored 14 goals and regiterd seven assists in 33 games for the Blades.
There are no indications in the report as to how much Wednesday offered for Blackman, but Reading have accepted the bid, believing it to be worth the striker’s talents.
He is to now open talks with the Owls concerning contract details, with Wednesday wanting a transfer confirmed before this weekend’s FA Cup third round tie against Fulham.
Should Blackman sign this week, he will become Wednesday’s 18th signing of the season following the intense business the Owls completed over the summer.
