Report: Crystal Palace keen on Wolves striker Benik Afobe

The Eagles could make a move for the Championship striker in January.

Crystal Palace are keen on a move for Wolves striker Benik Afobe, reports the Daily Mail.

The Eagles have been impressive this season, and are currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table and within touching distance of the top four.

They have been sorely lacking in the striking department though, with the likes of Connor Wickham, Dwight Gayle and Fraizer Campbell unable to provide the cutting edge they require.

Of those four, only Wickham has a goal to his name in the league so far, with Gayle only managing his four goals in the League Cup.

That has led Alan Pardew to look for new recruits up front, and Wolves striker Afobe is among them according to the Daily Mail.

He has nine goals in the Championship already this season, the joint fifth best of any player in the division.

It may take a big price to secure him though, with the Wolves Express and Star reporting in the summer that Kenny Jackett’s rejected a £10m bid from Norwich for his services.

That could be a small fee to pay though, with a goalscorer sure to add a serious boost to their aims of finishing in a European place this season.
