After losing Demarai Gray to Leicester City, Birmingham City could be dealt another blow - with Brighton & Hove Albion chasing David Cotterill, according to the Daily Mail.
Gray and Cotterill were Birmingham’s wing duo for the early part of the season, but it seems that the Welshman could be about to follow his teammate out of the St. Andrew's exit door.
Cotterill has been in good form this season, and his displays have caught the attention of Brighton.
The Seagulls are determined to invest in January, as they look to strengthen their bid for promotion - and they could submit a seven figure offer for the former Doncaster Rovers man in the coming days.
Brighton are currently in fourth place in the Championship table, but their form has dipped in recent weeks and Chris Hughton is determined to add an injection of quality.
The south coast club are set to be backed with funds, and Cotterill is reportedly high up on their wishlist.
Birmingham’s chances of keeping the wide man are harmed, because he has a release clause in his contract which Brighton are prepared to trigger.
The 28-year-old winger has made 13 appearances for Gary Rowett’s side this season, scoring twice and setting up three goals.
He is expected to return from injury to play in the Blues’ FA Cup match against Bournemouth at the weekend.
