Report: Bournemouth want Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker

Bournemouth are tracking Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker, who is currently on loan at Southampton.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker has become Bournemouth’s top target in the January transfer window.

Eddie Howe is determined to add another centre back to his group in January, as he has been forced to start players out of position in the heart of his defence, due to injuries.

Caulker is currently on loan at Southampton, but his stay at St. Mary’s hasn’t even very productive so far.

The 24-year-old centre back has only played one Premier League match for the Saints, meaning that a switch to their south coast rivals could be of interest.

QPR are thought to be willing to allow Caulker to leave, if they receive an offer of an acceptable amount.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man is on big wages at Loftus Road, and QPR are unable to fund his contract, without Premier League football.

Bournemouth were reportedly interested in Caulker in the summer, but they were put off by his wage demands.

However, the Cherries appear to be in with a genuine chance of survival in the top tier now - and they are set to make another attempt to sign the England international.
