According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Birmingham City have identified Sunderland winger Will Buckley as their first choice replacement for Demarai Gray.
Gray moved to Leicester City yesterday, and the Blues intend to reinvest some of the money they received for the young winger to sign Buckley.
The 26-year-old wide man appears to have no future at the Stadium of Light, after failing to impress Sam Allardyce.
Buckley has not played for Sunderland all season, and he has been nowhere near the first team squad since Allardyce arrived.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion man was sent out on loan to Leeds United back in October, but that move did not work out as intended.
Buckley made four appearances for the Whites, but did not make a good impression and his loan spell was terminated early.
Buckley has previously proven his quality at Championship level however, and Gary Rowett believes he can restore him back to his best at St. Andrews.
