According to the latest reports in the Mirror, German champions Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Southampton’s talented forward Sadio Mane.
His dominant displays, however, have caught the eye of a number of elite clubs and speculation has become rife over his future after he was dropped from the team last weekend.
The Mirror reports that Mane doesn’t want to sign a new contract amid interest from Manchester United, yet Louis van Gaal’s men aren’t the only team monitoring the situation carefully.
“Mane has told Southampton he does not want to sign a new contract knowing that will force them into a £30m sale to one of Europe’s biggest clubs. United are keen to do a deal in January but Mirror Sport understands that Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also registered their interest,” the report reads.
Mane, 23, can play in a range of positions in the final third and offers pace, directness and a genuine goal threat even when featuring out on the wing in an attacking 4-3-3 system.
The Saints brought him in on a four-year contract so won’t be forced to sell him on the cheap, though a smart club policy suggests they won’t risk keeping him with less than two years left on the deal either.
If a January switch can’t be completed, Mane will almost certainly be sold in the summer with Bayern Munich said to be interested in taking him to the Allianz Arena.
