Newcastle United are allegedly discussing a deal to bring a new player to the club.
Saivet has been linked with the Magpies for a while now. But the Mirror recently suggested the player was having second thoughts over a possible move to Newcastle instead favouring a switch to Premier League rivals Southampton.
As is often the case during transfer windows there has now been another twist, with Foot Mercato claiming a source has told them the 25-year-old is in fact already discussing a possible move to Steve McClaren’s side this month.
Saivet is a central midfielder who can also operate on either wing if required and he has made 177 appearances for Bordeaux to date, scoring 23 goals and providing 12 assists in the process.
This season he has regularly been captaining the French club and with 26 appearances he is integral to them.
However, with just 18 months left on his current contract it may be time Bordeaux cashed in and Newcastle could certainly do with quality reinforcements as they look to move away from the relegation zone in 2016.
