Liam Bridcutt has extended his loan spell at Leeds United until the end of the season.
Leeds United today confirmed on their official website that they have extended Liam Bridcutt's loan deal from Sunderland until the end of the season.
Bridcutt, 26, found himself out of favour at Sunderland, and with no hope of first-team football at the Stadium of Light, he decided to leave the club on loan back in November, penning a deal to join Leeds United until January.
Since arriving at Elland Road, Bridcutt has played every single minute of league action for Leeds, and whilst they lost his debut against Queens Park Rangers, the Whites are now unbeaten in seven matches; much of which is down to the influence of Bridcutt.
Calm in possession and strong in the tackle, Bridcutt has been a revelation in front of the Leeds back four, and fans have been desperate to see him stay for longer, given that the 1-1 draw with MK Dons on Saturday was scheduled to be the final match of his loan deal.
Now though, Leeds have confirmed on their official website that a deal has been struck with Sunderland to keep him in West Yorkshire until the end of the season - and supporters are ecstatic.
Fans took to Twitter after the announcement to hail the impact of Bridcutt, comparing him to former Leeds Premier League star David Batty for his work in front of the Leeds defence.
Other fans offered rare praise for chairman Massimo Cellino for getting the deal over the line, but still wanted to see him bring Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty to the club as well.
Finally, there were many fans stating that manager Steve Evans should give Bridcutt the captaincy, even though he's only on loan, because he has been so important in midfield.
Here are some of the reactions from Leeds fans on Twitter after the confirmation of Bridcutt's loan extension...

Great news about Bridcutt. He's like an angry little pitbull, guarding the defence and snapping at opposition players legs. Class act. #lufc— White Answers (@whiteanswers) January 5, 2016
Great news in the extension of Bridcutt's loan spell. The best ankle biter the club has had since David Batty. #LUFC.— RightInTheGaryKellys (@RITGK) January 5, 2016
Even though Bridcutt is on loan I still think he's the best option for a captain! He's literally transformed the team! #lufc— JPens (@Jamesrpenny) January 5, 2016
