Frank Leboeuf says West Ham's Dimitri Payet is an artist on the field

The West Ham United player is eyeing a place in France's Euro 2016 squad.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has been speaking to the Mirror about West Ham United play-maker Dimitri Payet.

The Frenchman has been nothing short of sensational since he arrived at Upton Park from Marseille last summer, and he returned to action following injury for the Hammers’ 2-0 victory against Liverpool last weekend.

Despite Payet’s talent he has only won 15 caps for his country to date, but Leboeuf for one feels he deserves a place in France’s squad for the upcoming European Championships.

Speaking to the Mirror, Leboeuf said, “I hope he plays for France this summer. He is someone who can create things.

“He is an artist. Now he has to improve his teamwork and he has got to get back into Didier Deschamp’s heart.”

The French national coach has a considerable amount of talent to choose from so it will be interesting to see how things go for Payet in the months ahead.

On the pitch he is certainly doing all he can, with five goals and four assists in his 15 appearances for West Ham to date.

And now he is back to full fitness he will be hoping to inspire West Ham to a great finish in a campaign that still promises so much.
