Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy reportedly desires Michy Batshuayi move this month; could he be biding his time before late bid?

Tottenham Hotspur have once again been linked with the prolific Belgian.

Tottenham Hotspur are doing wonderfully well with their current squad and currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, just three points behind Manchester City. But according to the latest claims from France, chairman Daniel Levy has his eye on one new addition in particular.

With the January transfer window now open, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino can strengthen his already impressive squad if he so wishes and the print edition of French newspaper L’Equipe reports on Tuesday that Levy has a desire to bring Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi to White Hart Lane.

The cutting from the article was later published online by Sport Witness, with L’Equipe reporting that Levy is hoping to bring the prolific 22-year-old to England this month although he is yet to make a bid.

Levy has proved to be a canny negotiator time and again so if the latest report is true he could be waiting for the best possible time before making an offer he will hope is too good to refuse.

The problem for Tottenham is that Batshuayi has a contract until the summer of 2019, so Marseille will be in no rush to cash in, while his 14 goals and five assists in26 matches make him a vital player for the Ligue 1 club.

But January has only just begun, and Levy will know that if he gets it right this month he could see his beloved Tottenham claim a surprise title win come May.
