West Ham United's under-21 side featured a trialist last night as they took on Brighton and Hove Albion.
The player in question was Reece Brown, confirmed by the West Ham website, who lined up alongside former Barcelona midfielder Alex Song.
Brown currently is contracted to Birmingham City, and is just 19-years-old, but his contract expires in June and he is eligible to sign as a free agent.
West Ham's match report gave a positive impression of his performance, remarking: "Reece Brown has been lively all night, he looks good on the ball and has a great range of passing."
The 19-year-old is a central midfielder and is an England under-20 international, scoring two goals in five games, also representing his country at under-18, under-17 and under-16 level.
He has one Championship appearance to his name this season, also featuring in the Capital One Cup, both as a substitute.
He is not to be confused with Bury's Reece Brown, the 24-year-old brother of Sunderland's former Manchester United defender Wes, a mistake made by The Mail in their match report.
