Camara completed a move to the iPro Stadium from Angers yesterday, but he is already familiar with Clement.
The rapid attacker says that he has been tracking the Rams’ progress from afar, and he has been encouraged by their style of play.
"I know of Paul. I know that he is a very good coach, he likes to play football and for me it was important that he, and the club, wanted me,” Camara said.
"The club appear to like my game and, for me, Derby are a very good team with a lot of very good players. That’s why I have decided to come here.”
Camara joins Derby to strengthen their claim for promotion, and he should bring even further attacking threat to their squad.
The Rams already possess one of the most feared frontlines in the Football League, but Camara has different qualities to their current options.
The 25-year-old has masses of pace, and his direct threat made him a real threat in Ligue 1, with his time at Angers.
He arrives at Derby with the Rams sitting in second place in the Championship table and looking like one of the leading contenders for promotion.
Camara’s debut could come at the weekend, when Derby take on League Two side Hartlepool in the FA Cup.
