According to a report in Telefoot, Arsenal are among a few top European sides tracking the progress of highly-rated Nancy midfielder Youssef Ait Bennasser.
The Gunners have a long and proud tradition of spotting the very best talent on the continent and bringing them to the Emirates Stadium and developing them accordingly.
Bennasser is currently regarded as a real bright spark in France despite playing in the second division, dislodging French youth international Remi Walter out of the first-team picture.
The 19-year-old predominantly plays as a holding midfielder and his impressive performances of late have attracted the attentions of Europe’s leading sides.
Arsene Wenger’s men are currently light on central midfielders, what with Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla all currently nursing long-term injuries.
But even at full strength, some could argue that Arsenal don’t have much in terms of natural defensive midfielders and beyond Coquelin only the ageing Mathieu Flamini ideally fits the profile.
Bennasser may not be a good option for Arsenal right now but with plenty of potential and time on his side, the Moroccan youth could turn out to be sound prospect and certainly one to watch.
