Tottenham Hotspur played out a 1-1 draw with Everton this weekend.
The 23-year-old has played his way into Pochettino’s plans in recent weeks, appearing at one point or another in Tottenham’s last five league matches.
Given the squad depth at White Hart Lane these days, Carroll may have felt he had little chance of making an impact this season. But that is certainly not the case, and against Everton the midfielder impressed, proving he should not be forgotten despite the emergence of Dele Alli and Eric Dier in the centre of the park.
Tottenham went behind when former player Aaron Lennon scored a great goal but Alli matched it with a sublime finish to ensure Spurs headed back to North London with a point.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Tottenham fans thought of Carroll’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Tom Carroll played very well yesterday, but yet because Tottenham didn't win he's getting the abuse. Ease off it#THFC— Richard (@Richy_Bakes) January 4, 2016
Tom Carroll is comfortable on the ball and always available for a pass. But he needs to beef up and be more positive in his passing.— Kevin Flanagan (@flanagan_58) January 3, 2016
1. Disappointed not to beat Everton, especially after the first half. 2. Tom Carroll not the answer in midfield. 3. Why Davies over Rose?— Scott Lesner (@ScottLesner) January 3, 2016
@HotspurRelated can't understand why poch didn't take Tom Carroll off, very poor second half, you don't win the league with Tom Carrolls— Yid (@markcoupland2) January 3, 2016
Tom Carroll is really causing split opinion. I don't think he's good enough to play next to Dier, not big or strong enough to do the job— Tottenham Hotspur (@THFC__Fans) January 3, 2016
Contrary to popular opinion, Tom Carroll's passing today: 39/49 forward 16/16 backward 17/17 square. 4 chances created (3 from open play).— Chris Miller (@WindyCOYS) January 3, 2016
