West Ham's Diego Poyet set for loan move to former club Charlton

The midfielder recently returned from a loan spell with MK Dons.

West Ham United starlet Diego Poyet is set for a return to former club Charlton Athletic in the January transfer window, reports the Mirror.

The midfielder is available for a loan spell after ending a recent stint in the Championship with MK Dons and returning to West Ham.

He is unlikely to feature for the Hammers first team, currently well down the pecking order at this moment in time.

Slaven Bilic has a number of options to choose from in central midfield, especially considering Alex Song is now back at full fitness and available for selection.

It is best for the 20-year-old to head back out on loan and continue his development rather than sitting in the reserves or featuring for the development squad.

And he will be doing just that, with the Mirror reporting he is set to head to former club Charlton until the end of the season.

The Addicks are currently sitting 23rd in the division and winless in eight games, and in need of new faces to freshen things up at the Valley.

They will be hoping that the defensive midfielder can add some defensive steel to a side that has conceded 42 goals already, the third worst record in the division.
