The Reds were beaten by West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has called for a change in mentality from the side.

The Reds were comfortably beaten 2-0 by West Ham on Saturday, with goals from Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll giving the Hammers all three points.

It was a highly disappointing display from Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the German boss heavily criticising his players in his post match interviews.

And Lovren was in tune with his manager, admitting that he and the rest of the squad need to more, while suggesting that a change in mentality is needed from them as a group.

“We could and we need to do more because when you look to the two [previous] games, [against West Ham] it was something different,” he told liverpoolfc.com.

“I don’t know the reasons why but we need to step up quickly from this because we don’t have time to think about it now, because we have the game with Stoke on Tuesday.”

“We definitely need to change our mentality and we need to keep a better run of games and to fight more. It was two easy goals [conceded], I would say.”

Liverpool fans will now be hoping that they see a change of mentality as soon as possible with a cup semi final against Stoke City coming up.

It was a lack of effort against West Ham that was heavily criticised by Klopp following the loss, and it will be interesting to see if his side are at 100% application in the game.

They will need to be at their best to beat the Potters as well, with Mark Hughes’ side having impressed this season and sitting just one point behind them in the table.
