Nantes are interested in signing Gabriel Obertan from Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to France Football.
Obertan has been on the books of Newcastle since 2011 and has a contract with the Premier League outfit until June 2016.
The former Manchester United and Bordeaux winger is on the sidelines at the moment with a groin problem, but it seems that Nantes want to recruit him this month.
The 26-year-old Frenchman is a forgotten figure at Newcastle and has managed to make just five appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
During the 2014-15 campaign, Obertan played 13 times in the league, scoring one goal and creating 14 chances in the process.
Newcastle are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment and are third from bottom in the table.
Meanwhile Nantes currently find themselves 13th in Ligue 1 with 24 points from 19 matches, seven points above the relegation zone.
