According to a report in the Telegraph, Crystal Palace will lodge a January bid for Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
Palace have shown great ambition in the transfer window in recent times and they have now allegedly identified Shelvey as a potential recruit.
The England international has fallen out of favour at Swansea recently, and he was dropped for the Welsh side’s latest match against Manchester United.
Swansea are now reportedly set to cash in on the midfielder - and they are said to be looking for a bid of around £10million.
The Telegraph claims that Palace are willing to meet this asking price, as Pardew is convinced he can bring the best out of the central midfielder.
Pardew worked with Shelvey at Charlton Athletic earlier in their respective careers, and the 54-year-old is confident that a move to Selhurst Park would enable the technically adept midfielder to compete for a place in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad.
Palace are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, but they are keen to strengthen their squad in January as they bid to ultimately secure a European spot.
If Palace do go for Shelvey they may face competition though - as Newcastle United are also said to be tracking the midfielder.
