Manager Remi Garde has claimed that in every match Aston Villa have played under his stewardship they have suffered with the same problem.
The French boss has bemoaned Villa’s lack of a cutting edge on the club’s official website, after becoming frustrated with their inability to take their chances in front of goal.
Villa were beaten 3-1 by Sunderland in their latest outing, and they were once again guilty of missing a series of presentable opportunities at the Stadium of Light.
“Once again, I thought we played not so badly,” Garde said. “We created some opportunities but like every time we need to more efficient.”
Villa’s goal on Wearside was wonderfully well taken by Carles Gil, but it was not enough to stop them falling to a yet another damaging defeat.
Sunderland were good value for their win, with a Jermain Defoe double and a deflected Patrick van Aanholt strike providing them with the three points.
The defeat means that Villa have now failed to win any of their last 19 Premier League matches.
The Villans are already 11 points away from safety, and their chances of surviving are starting to look very slim with almost half the campaign still to play.
