Manchester United transfer news: Van Gaal wants Lukaku; Neymar linked with £140m move; Powell set for loan exit

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Manchester united are interested in signing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian international has been in blistering form this season, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists in just 24 appearances to date.

That is wonderful form, and United could certainly do with a striker of Lukaku’s calibre, but De Telegraaf claims it will take an offer in the region of €50million – which equates to around £36.9million – to secure his signature.

That would be a mere drop in the ocean compared with the allegedly £140million offer United are prepared to make to bring Neyamr to Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News reports that United are prepared to pay the Barcelona star’s release clause in the summer but it seems highly unlikely he will swap La Liga for the Premier League at this stage of his career.

And finally, the Sun reports that United are ready to send Nick Powell out on loan for the rest of the season.

The midfielder has tasted first-team action under manager Louis van Gaal but the latest report suggests there are six clubs keen on taking him on a temporary basis.
