Andreas Pereira provided a memorable reminder of his ability by scoring a brace for Manchester United's under-21 side.
His double ensured the Red Devils beat Tottenham's under-21s 3-1, with James Weir also on target.
One of the goals was spectacular, scoring directly from a corner, curling the ball in impressively, showcasing his set piece skills which also saw him net a free kick in the Capital One Cup for the first team earlier this season.
His second goal was also well taken, put through on goal from the halfway line, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into the empty net.
The midfielder may just have played himself into contention for a starting place at the weekend when United take on Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
At another club he may already be a regular for the first team, but United have - finally - real competition for places in midfield, with the likes of Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin jostling for position.
Pereira was done no favours being selected to come on late against Stoke, but United need to find a way to get him more involved on a regular basis, because his talent is undeniable.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to his performance on Twitter...
Pereira is our best youth player and he hardly gets a look in. It's a shame that he has fierce competition. #mufc— Ä. (@Schweinmaster) January 4, 2016
#MUFC Pereira has had another good game at U21 level but lets not get too excited. He hasn't set the world alight in PL when given chance.— Dave (@DavePienaar) January 4, 2016
Really hope we see Pereira in the starting line-up vs Sheffield United in the FA Cup. Dazzling performance tonight for the U21's! #mufc— Special Juan (@MyBoyMemphis) January 4, 2016
