Kenny Jackett's response when asked whether any deals are close at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson.

Kenny Jackett has told Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official site that his side are not close to completing any deals.

Although Wolves are interested in signing Mike Williamson from Newcastle United, it seems that no incoming additions will be made in the coming days.

Wolves are keen to improve the quality of their squad, but after the addition of Michal Zyro there is little else in the pipeline at Molineux.

“There is no more news on Mike Williamson,” he said.

“He is a player we are interested in but we are not close to doing a deal at the moment.

“Michal Zyro has come in and will be available now but there aren’t any other deals close to being done.”

Wolves have made a disappointing start to the season, and they are currently in mid-table in the Championship.

Jackett’s side have won their last three matches, however, which has moved them a lot closer to the play off spaces.

The Midlands outfit are now just seven points away from the top six, and Jackett is determined to strengthen his team to increase their promotion chances.

Wolves have been linked with the likes of Walsall’s Tom Bradshaw by EuroSport and Peterborough United’s Conor Washington in the Daily Mail.

Jackett’s men’s next match comes against West Ham United in the FA Cup on Saturday, but it does not look likely that any new additions will be made for that fixture.
