John Barnes names three 2016 breakthrough players

John Barnes expects Everton duo Ross Barkley and John Stones and Manchester City youngster Raheem Sterling to have a big year in 2016.

Former Liverpool and Newcastle United winger John Barnes has named on three players from whom he expects a big year in 2016.

“From an English perspective I’m expecting a big year from Ross Barkley, John Stones and Raheem Sterling,” Barnes wrote on while naming his 2016 breakthrough players.

“It’s important not to put too much pressure on young players, but this three have such potential and are reaching good ages to really kick on.”

Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley is one of the best young players in the Premier League and is a regular for Everton.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has scored six goals and created 34 chances in 20 league games so far this season.

The England international has a pass accuracy of 88% and a shot accuracy of 56%, and has won 15 headers, 60 dribbles and nine tackles.

John Stones

John Stones is arguably the best young central defender in England at the moment. The 21-year-old, who can also play as a right-back, has played in 18 Premier League matches for Everton so far this campaign.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has been playing relatively well for Manchester City so far this campaign, having joined the Citizens from Premier League rivals Liverpool in the summer of 2015.

The 21-year-old attacker has scored five goals and created 26 chances in 19 league matches this season.
