Williams joined Forest on loan from Premier League outfit Palace in September 2015. The 22-year-old midfielder’s stay at the City Ground was supposed to be until January 16, but he has been recalled early.
The youngster failed to make a huge impact at Forest during his loan spell, managing to make 10 appearances in the Championship.
In those 10 league games, Williams did not score a single goal, created five chances, had a pass accuracy of 76%, and won six headers, four dribbles and eight tackles.
The Wales international went straight to the Palace matchday squad after his recall for Sunday afternoon’s Premier League game against Chelsea.
The midfielder came on as a substitute with 11 minutes left on the clock, as Palace lost the encounter at Selhurst Park 3-0.
Forest fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on Williams, with Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings delighted to see his former Ipswich Town teammate back in the Premier League.
So good to see Jonny Williams back playing in the prem where he belongs, absolute player— Tyrone Mings (@OfficialTM_3) January 3, 2016
Not sure why Williams came on for Palace today but couldn't get a game for #nffc.. Strange to sign him then start him 4 times in 4 months— Philip Davis (@phildavis1991) January 3, 2016
Interesting that Jonny Williams is good enough to play against Chelsea but not good enough to get in the #nffc side— Rhys Cooper (@dizzee_rhyscal) January 3, 2016
Johnny Williams... Good enough for Palace in the Premiership... Not good enough for Dougie F. #nffc— Tony (@Manor_Farm_Tony) January 3, 2016
