Stefan Johansen has been at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic since 2014.

Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen has told The Scotsman that he and the club are in talks about a new deal.

The 24-year-old has been on the books of the Scottish Premiership giants since 2014 and has a contract until June 2017.

Nir Bitton, Leigh Griffiths and Scott Brown have all recently signed new long-term deals with the Bhoys.

Johansen has praised Celtic for securing the long-term futures of the aforementioned trio and has revealed that he is in talks about a new deal.

“It is very positive for the club to sign those kind of players long-term,” the Norway international told The Scotsman. “For me, we are in talks. That’s all I can say and we will take it from there.

“I have no comment about it. You need to speak to my agent. Always in the past, I don’t comment about this. I know we are in talks and we’ll see what happens.”

Celtic returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon, as they got the better of Partick Thistle at Celtic Park.

Ronny Deila’s side are at the top of the league table at the moment with 46 points from 20 matches.

The Glasgow giants are three points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and also have a game in hand.

Celtic will face Stranraer away from home in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.
