Celtic manager Ronny Deila last week told The Scotsman that a move to re-sign Everton winger Aiden McGeady is unlikely, unless he reduces his wage demands.
McGeady, 29, started his career with Celtic all the way back in 2001 having arrived from Queen's Park, and went on to become a star at Celtic Park.
With 37 goals and 83 assists in 252 games for Celtic, McGeady was outstanding for the Bhoys, dazzling the crowd with his dribbling and incredible trickery.
In 2010, McGeady left Celtic for Spartak Moscow, and then in 2014 he came back to Britain with Everton - but he has failed to make an impact at Goodison Park, and looks set to leave Everton this month.
A potential return to Celtic has been suggested, but Deila told The Scotsman that the Irish international us unlikely to return unless he drops his wage demands considerably.
After those comments from under-fire Deila, Celtic fans took to Twitter to weigh up whether they wanted McGeady back at the club - and it's fair to say that it's a mixed verdict.
Some fans believe that winger McGeady can provide some excitement and flair in the final third which is lacking right now, with Celtic winning games in unconvincing fashion right now.
Others aren't quite so convinced though, suggesting that he lacks end product, and Deila should instead develop the likes of Ryan Christie and Scott Allan, and spend the money on a new defender instead.
Here are some of the reactions from Celtic fans after Deila's comments on Aiden McGeady...
Forrest is the only out and out winger we've got so I would defo take McGeady back!— DEE (@Bhoy___) January 4, 2016
Would take McGeady back at Celtic any day— kieran dougan (@KieranDougan1) January 3, 2016
Signing McGeady would definitely lift the mood of the fans of late. A confidence player who if Deila gets playing can be unplayable...— T.R_Celtic (@tiernan_rea) January 1, 2016
Folk complaining about McGeady are insane. He might've been poor at Everton, but he'd improve us significantly. What do folk want?— Bartin Main (@MainBart) January 1, 2016
I'd rather Celtic not sign Mcgeady and instead give Christie and Allan an opportunity for rest of the season. Experienced CF and CH needed— Emrod (@Emrod_lives) January 2, 2016
We have lots of possession in games but no goals. How would Aiden No End Product McGeady fix that?— Timothy Jellington (@JellyTim) January 2, 2016
Why are Celtic talking about signing McGeady, when it's glaringly obviously we need a decent centre half?— Kyle Marley (@KyleMarley1) January 1, 2016
