Watford once again thrilled the nation on Saturday evening as they led Manchester City late on at Vicarage Road, only to have their hearts broken through goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.
Tiredness played its part as Quique Sanchez Flores' men just fell short against Manuel Pellegrini's title challengers.
But few could fault the commendable effort shown by the Watford players as they very nearly claimed another Premier League scalp.
And many Watford fans are now worried about the prospect of losing the 31-year-old in the January transfer window, having lauded his work-rate and dedication against Manchester City.
Some may have faulted Holebas for the build-up to the cross for the winner, while others may still prefer Ake. But several supporters have expressed their wish on Twitter for Watford to keep the Greek defender.
Here's how they reacted to his performance v City, during which the Hornets were left desperately unlucky:
Thought Holebas did well yesterday and looks a good option to have at LB. Did reasonably well in defence + good option in attack. #WatfordFC— WatfordFCBlog (@WatfordFCBlog) January 3, 2016
Jurado and Holebas were our two best players today, a big improvement from both #watfordfc— AlfieJenner (@AlfieWFCJenner) January 2, 2016
If Holebas puts in the same performances in the next couple of games, I'd be loathe to sell him #watfordfc— Watford Focus (@watfordfocus) January 2, 2016
Britos, Holebas and Jurado deserve a huge amount of praise! Been class last couple of games, real solid players! #watfordfc— Rob⚽️ (@RobertA280597) January 2, 2016
I would play Holebas over Ake every game and today I finally 'got' Jurado. #watfordfc— Marc Duffy (@marcduffy10) January 2, 2016
