Watford fans react on Twitter to Jose Holebas performance v Manchester City

The 31-year-old impressed fans despite Watford's heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Manchester City.

Watford once again thrilled the nation on Saturday evening as they led Manchester City late on at Vicarage Road, only to have their hearts broken through goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.

Tiredness played its part as Quique Sanchez Flores' men just fell short against Manuel Pellegrini's title challengers.

But few could fault the commendable effort shown by the Watford players as they very nearly claimed another Premier League scalp.

Jose Holebas, in particular, seemed to please the Hornets faithful. Indeed, Nathan Ake has received plenty of praise so far this season but Holebas impressed in his stead on this occasion.

And many Watford fans are now worried about the prospect of losing the 31-year-old in the January transfer window, having lauded his work-rate and dedication against Manchester City.

Some may have faulted Holebas for the build-up to the cross for the winner, while others may still prefer Ake. But several supporters have expressed their wish on Twitter for Watford to keep the Greek defender.
