The defender is currently out of favour at Villa Park and looking for a move.
The Swiss international is not part of the plans at Villa Park, having been omitted from the 25-man squad at the beginning of the season by former manager Tim Sherwood.
His contract is due to expire in the summer, and given his current situation it is unlikely to be renewed by his current employers.
That has left him open to finding a new club in January so as to avoid another five months not playing, especially with Switzerland heading to Euro 2016 in France this summer.
That desire to move has alerted Serie A side Lazio, who are keen to add defensive recruits having struggled in that department this season.
That may tempt Lazio to move in the January transfer window rather than waiting until the summer when they can get Senderos on a free transfer.
