The former Tottenham Hotspur manager was highly impressed with the Belgian - as well as others.
The Toffees took the lead through Aaron Lennon at Goodison Park, before Dele Alli equalised and both teams ultimately settled for a point during a very entertaining affair.
And it was Alderweireld's pass that set up Alli's goal, as the Tottenham centre-back once again demonstrated his wonderful distribution. Naturally, Ardiles was impressed with both creator and scorer:
What a brilliant goal. Very good pass from Toby and wonderful and difficult finishing from Dele https://t.co/hYi76GY1XS— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) January 3, 2016
On Alderweireld, Ardiles also made the claim that he is a big candidate to be Tottenham's player of the season.
And why not?
The 26-year-old has made all the difference at the back at White Hart Lane this campaign. His passing is excellent and his overall defending is first class.
Jan Vertonghen was criticised by Jamie Carragher for his contribution during Lennon's goal for Everton. But there was nothing of the kind for Alderweireld. This was another solid performance from a brilliant player.
